Cryptocurrency kiosk scams have been on the rise in recent years, and lawmakers are taking notice. A recent survey by AARP found that an overwhelming majority of older adults believe laws to protect consumers from these scams are crucial.

The AARP survey, conducted between February 12 and 16, 2026, found that 92% of respondents aged 50-plus believed such laws were important. This sentiment is not limited to just protecting against scams – over 8 in 10 respondents also see these laws as a way to support the responsible growth of cryptocurrency.

With lawmakers considering legislation to combat cryptocurrency-related scams, it remains to be seen how effective these laws will be in preventing financial losses for consumers. However, one thing is clear: older adults are keenly aware of the issue and want action taken to protect them.
