X Updates Advertising Policies to Allow Cryptocurrency and Gambling Promotions
X, a popular social media platform, has made significant changes to its advertising policies. As of now, cryptocurrency and gambling content can be promoted on the platform through paid partnerships.
This shift marks a reversal of a ban that had been in place since at least June 2024. The update removes the entire financial products category, including loans, investment services, and crypto, from X's prohibited industries list for paid promotions.
The new Paid Partnership framework requires influencers to disclose any compensated promotion. This means that posts created as part of a Paid Partnership must include the 'Paid Partnership' label. Influencers are responsible for ensuring that content complies with applicable laws, including the FTC's regulations on endorsements and testimonials.
