Cryptocurrency Hack Frequency Hits All-Time High Amid Rise of AI-Powered Attacks
The cryptocurrency industry has experienced a significant increase in hacking attacks, with Ryan Sean Adams, co-founder of Bankless, warning that the frequency of these incidents has reached an all-time high.
According to Adams, the rise in hacking activity is linked to the growing use of AI technology, which is enabling attackers to gain 'dark superpowers.' This perceived advantage is forcing Kelp DAO to take swift action after it suffered a hack resulting in approximately $292 million in losses.
Kelp DAO has issued a statement detailing suspicious cross-chain activities involving rsETH and has paused the rsETH contract on several Layer 2 chains. The organization is collaborating with security experts, including LayerZero and Unichain, to conduct a root cause analysis.
