Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has hinted that the US and Iran may reach a tentative agreement by this weekend. If confirmed, the deal would have significant implications for global energy markets and the crypto industry.
The potential deal centers on a 60-day memorandum of understanding (MOU) that would extend an existing ceasefire while creating space for deeper nuclear discussions. A signing date of June 13-14 is currently under consideration.
Bessent outlined several conditions that Iran must meet, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz and surrendering its stockpile of highly enriched uranium. The US has also seized approximately $1 billion in Iranian-linked crypto assets as part of 'Operation Economic Fury.'
