Hostplus Super, a major Australian superannuation fund, is exploring the addition of cryptocurrency as an investment option for its members. According to reports, the fund's chief investment officer, Sam Sicilia, confirmed that the plan is in the design phase and requires regulatory approval.
The new financial year for Hostplus begins on July 1, which could see the introduction of cryptocurrency investments as early as next year. The fund has a significant presence with $96 billion of assets under management and approximately 2.2 million members, making it Australia's fifth-largest super fund by assets and third-largest by members.
