OKX Assembles Regulated Governance with Andrew Cuomo Board Seat
OKX, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has hired Andrew Cuomo, the former Governor of New York, to its board of directors. Cuomo's appointment is seen as a strategic move by OKX to establish itself as a regulated financial firm.
Cuomo co-chairs a joint venture between OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the operator of the New York Stock Exchange. This venture aims to build infrastructure for tokenized assets, institutional derivatives, and around-the-clock trading. Once regulators approve, it plans to register as a broker-dealer and futures commission merchant.
This would give OKX customers access to ICE futures and tokenized NYSE equities. Notably, Cuomo's directorship extends the relationship between OKX and ICE, with the former holding a board seat at OKX since an earlier investment valued the exchange at $25 billion.
