Polygon Crypto Activates Giugliano Hardfork to Boost Network Performance
Polygon Crypto's Giugliano hardfork aims to boost network performance with significant upgrades to its Proof of Stake (PoS) chain. The activation of this hardfork on mainnet has marked a deliberate shift back towards throughput and developer experience.
The Giugliano upgrade introduces three key changes: block producers can now announce blocks earlier, reducing the window between creation and confirmation; fee parameters are embedded in block headers for faster data retrieval; and new RPC endpoints deliver fee information more efficiently to wallets and applications.
With this upgrade, Polygon Crypto is sending a signal that its engineering pipeline is functioning smoothly, addressing concerns raised by recent stability incidents. The upgrade's impact on transaction finality is significant, reducing the confirmation time by around 2 seconds, which can make a substantial difference for high-frequency DeFi protocols and payment applications.
