Solv Protocol Abandons LayerZero, Migrates Assets to Chainlink CCIP
Solv Protocol has made a significant decision regarding its tokenized Bitcoin assets, opting to migrate them from the LayerZero bridge to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). This move is a direct response to security concerns raised after the Kelp DAO exploit, which saw a loss of $292 million in assets.
The migration affects SolvBTC and xSolvBTC, the wrapped assets used by Solv across DeFi and BTCfi markets. It also involves the deprecation of LayerZero support on various networks, including Corn, Berachain, Rootstock, and TAC. This change aims to enhance security and mitigate potential risks associated with cross-chain attacks.
Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink, notes that this trend is a 'flight to quality,' where larger protocols are choosing more robust infrastructure to safeguard their assets. The migration of Solv Protocol's assets brings nearly $1 billion in value under Chainlink's cross-chain infrastructure, underscoring the growing demand for secure and reliable solutions.
