Riot Platforms Deposits Another 500 BTC to NYDIG Amid Sector-Wide Liquidations
Riot Platforms, the second-largest bitcoin miner, has transferred 500 BTC to NYDIG Custody, valued at approximately $30.72 million. This move follows a trend established in Q1 2026, when Riot liquidated 3,778 BTC while producing only 1,473 BTC.
The company's stock surged 120% in Q2 despite Bitcoin experiencing a 15% depreciation during the same timeframe. However, the current Bitcoin price has fallen below $57K, and mining production costs average roughly $78K per coin.
Riot's capital requirements continue to expand as it diversifies into data center operations and high-performance computing infrastructure. The company is leveraging its existing power capacity to service artificial intelligence workloads, demanding substantial investment, with Bitcoin treasury reserves serving as a funding mechanism.
