Wasabi Protocol Hit with Multi-Million Dollar Security Breach
A recent security breach has affected Wasabi Protocol, resulting in the loss of more than $5 million across multiple chains. According to blockchain security firms, the attack occurred on Ethereum, Base, Berachain, and Blast networks.
The compromised admin key allowed attackers to gain privileged access through the Wasabi deployer wallet. The attacker then upgraded core contracts and drained funds from the DeFi derivatives platform.
Cyvers reported that several assets were extracted during the attack, including WETH, PEPE, MOG, USDC, ZYN, REKT, cbBTC, AERO, and VIRTUAL. The stolen funds were consolidated into ETH and then bridged to Ethereum, distributed across multiple addresses.
