Ripple's Charity Work Reveals XRP's Limited Role in Operations

Ripple's recently released 2025 Impact Report reveals that despite its charitable efforts, XRP's actual role in Ripple's operations may be smaller than many holders assume. The report highlights over $70 million donated by Ripple in 2025 and over $250 million since 2018, but notes that almost all of this work ran on the RLUSD stablecoin rather than XRP.

The report showcases various real-world deployments, including drought payouts in Kenya and $6 million in Water.org loans, all of which used the RLUSD stablecoin. Ripple also donated £60,000 in XRP to Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, with XRP ranking among the top 10 most-donated cryptos on The Giving Block in 2025.

The only instance where XRP is genuinely used is on the XRP Ledger, where tokenized real-world assets grew from $24.7 million to $568 million in 2025. This raises questions about XRP's actual significance within Ripple's operations and whether its role has been overstated by holders.
