Japan's Crypto Market Boasts First Crypto-Backed Credit Card Launch

Japan's cryptocurrency market has taken a major step forward with the launch of the country's first crypto-backed credit card. Bitbank Co., Ltd. and EPOS Card Co., Ltd. have collaborated to introduce the 'EPOS CRYPTO Card for bitbank,' which allows users to pay directly from their exchange balance without needing to convert assets beforehand.

The card, which went live on April 27, 2026, is powered by Visa's payment network and offers a 0.5% crypto cashback on everyday purchases. This innovative product is the result of a partnership between two companies with distinct but complementary financial goals.

Bitbank, a Tokyo-based cryptocurrency exchange, has built its reputation on security, boasting zero hacking incidents since its inception. EPOS Card, a fintech arm of the Marui Group, aims to expand financial access across different income levels and age groups.
