Robinhood Faces Challenges but Sees Opportunity in Prediction Markets Growth
Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ: HOOD) released its Q1 2026 earnings report, which revealed a disappointing decline in crypto revenue. The segment's revenue plummeted 47% to $134 million, causing the company's stock price to drop sharply.
The prediction market, also known as event contracts by Robinhood, has shown significant growth and offers a new potential source of revenue for the company. Trading volume in the prediction market increased from less than $100 million per month in early 2024 to over $13 billion per month by the end of 2025.
The prediction market's trading volume is expected to reach $1 trillion by 2030, according to Bernstein Research analyst forecasts. If Robinhood can successfully capture a larger share of this growing market, it could help offset declines in its crypto segment and drive revenue growth.
