Ripple Expands into Africa Amid Significant On-chain Surge

Ripple's expansion into Africa is part of its broader effort to promote crypto adoption across the globe.

The firm has identified a growing demand for blockchain-based infrastructure in the region, driven by increasing on-chain activity. According to Ripple, countries like South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Mauritius have collectively recorded over $205 billion in on-chain activity between July 2024 and June 2025.

This growth has prompted legal authorities in these countries to establish clearer crypto regulatory frameworks, which aim to regulate service providers, strengthen anti-money laundering standards, and protect consumers while supporting innovation.
