Fed Taps Andreessen to Lead AI Task Force

The US Federal Reserve has appointed tech entrepreneur and venture capitalist Marc Andreessen to co-lead a new task force examining the impact of artificial intelligence on productivity, employment, and monetary policy.

Andreessen, co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz, will work alongside economist Charles I. Jones from Stanford and Asha Sharma, CEO of Microsoft's Xbox division, to evaluate how AI affects labor markets and productivity growth.

The task force is one of five established by Fed Chair Kevin Warsh as part of a modernization effort for the central bank's approach to economic analysis. The others cover areas such as data sources and operational reforms.

Andreessen Horowitz has been a prominent advocate for Bitcoin and blockchain technology, investing heavily in crypto startups and digital asset infrastructure over the past decade.
