Bitcoin Volatility Persists Amid Regulatory Progress and Institutional Weakness
Bitcoin's price has been experiencing significant volatility in recent days due to various factors. On the regulatory front, the Senate Banking Committee advanced the Clarity Act, a major legislative proposal aimed at establishing clearer rules for digital assets in the United States. This development was seen as a positive step towards institutional adoption and initially boosted optimism in the market.
However, this rally was short-lived as the price quickly dropped below $76,000 due to ETF outflows and uncertainty surrounding the proposed US government bitcoin reserve framework. The American Reserve Modernization Act, introduced by Representatives Nick Begich and Jared Golden, proposes a 20-year lock on government-held bitcoin, which could limit immediate bullish demand despite reducing long-term sell pressure.
Additionally, institutional demand has weakened with $105.19 million in net outflows from bitcoin ETFs, marking one of the most sustained pullbacks since their launch earlier this year. This trend is concerning for investors as it indicates a decrease in confidence in these investment vehicles.
