Takaichi's Office Embroiled in Memecoin Controversy

Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is facing scrutiny over her office's involvement in a memecoin project called SANAE TOKEN. According to reports from Japanese tabloid Weekly Bunshun, Takaichi's chief secretary approved the token's launch, which contradicts the PM's earlier denial that she or her office had any knowledge of the project.

The controversy surrounding SANAE TOKEN has been ongoing since its launch on Solana in February. The token surged over 40x on its first day but later crashed after Takaichi denied any involvement with the project. The Financial Services Agency (FSA) has launched an investigation into NoBorder DAO, the community behind the token, for operating without a crypto exchange license.

In related news, Japan's FSA has submitted a bill to parliament that would reclassify crypto assets as financial instruments under securities law. If passed, this legislation could have significant implications for the SANAE TOKEN case and other crypto projects in Japan.
