Coinbase CLO Sees Stablecoin Yield Deal Nearing Resolution in CLARITY Act
Coinbase's Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal expressed optimism that the company is close to reaching an agreement with lawmakers over stablecoin yield in the CLARITY Act.
The CLARITY Act has been stalled in the Senate, but Grewal believes that significant progress can be made within weeks. The central issue at hand is whether crypto platforms should be permitted to offer rewards on idle stablecoin balances.
Grewal argued against the notion that allowing stablecoin yield would pose a risk to deposit flight, pointing out that there has been no evidence of such an occurrence. He emphasized that this provision is distinct from the challenges faced by U.S. banks and should not be conflated with them.
