Crypto Industry Urged to Accelerate Quantum Readiness Efforts

Grayscale Research is emphasizing the need for the crypto industry to address potential security risks related to quantum computing. A recent Google Quantum AI paper suggests that quantum computing may crack cryptographic encryption codes faster than expected, prompting Grayscale to call for accelerated efforts toward quantum readiness.

The company notes that waiting on further quantum-resistant innovation could be risky, despite no current quantum computer capable of running Schor's Algorithm at scale. Grayscale Research head Zach Pandl comments that 'there is a lot of work to do across blockchain communities in terms of engineering, consensus building, and addressing second-order effects (e.g., potentially lower transaction throughput).'

Grayscale highlights the importance of post-quantum cryptography experiments being conducted by XRP Ledger and Solana. The company claims that these proposed solutions could be implemented and deployed to address quantum risks.
