TON Upgrade Accelerates Transaction Speed to Near-Instant Levels

The Open Network (TON), Telegram's blockchain infrastructure, has been upgraded to boost transaction speed. TON now processes transactions in approximately one second, making it a faster and more efficient platform.

According to Pavel Durov, the network is 10 times faster than before, with block production increasing by 6 times. The upgrade will enable sub-second finality on mainnet starting April 10, thanks to Catchain 2.0. This improvement in speed is expected to support instant payments, quicker trades, and responsive Mini Apps within Telegram's ecosystem.

The upgrade marks the first step in a seven-part roadmap, known as MTONGA, aimed at further improving TON's scalability and efficiency. The next planned step will focus on reducing TON transaction fees by 6 times, making it an even more attractive option for users.
