Bitcoin's Quantum Discount Hits Record High Amid Growing Concerns
Bitcoin has hit a record high quantum discount of 30 percent for the first time, making risk from quantum computers a significant market concern. According to Capriola Investment's model, Bitcoin is currently trading at $65,472 but its fundamental value is estimated to be 30% higher due to quantum-computing risks.
The progress in quantum computing technology has caused investor anxiety and increased caution. Google Quantum AI assessed that advancements in algorithms capable of breaking the secp256k1 elliptic curve used in Bitcoin encryption are moving faster than expected.
Meanwhile, institutional buying continues with spot bitcoin ETFs seeing net inflows of $727 million over the past five trading sessions. The slow response from the Bitcoin developer community has also been criticized, with some calling for a plan to address the quantum threat.
