Fayetteville Joins Global Celebration of Bitcoin Pizza Day
Fayetteville, a city in Arkansas, is set to host an event that will bring together students, professionals, and community members to learn about digital assets and blockchain technology. The event, which takes place on May 22, 2026, coincides with Bitcoin Pizza Day, a celebration of the first-ever use of Bitcoin to buy something in the real world.
The event is being organized by the University of Arkansas Crypto Hogs Crypto Club, led by President Lucas Vilar, and the Arkansas Stand With Crypto Chapter, headed by Max Avery. The chapter's president believes that education is key to the growth of digital assets in the state, and this event aims to provide a starting point for people to learn about blockchain technology.
The Fayetteville event joins a network of over 400 cities across six continents that have hosted similar events since 2021. Over $1 million worth of free pizzas have been given away globally through these events, with last year's global event drawing in over 20,000 attendees. The local event is open to the public and registration can be found on the official website.
Max Avery emphasized the importance of education in understanding digital assets, stating that people who grasp custody, tax treatment, and long-term planning make better decisions than those relying solely on social media for their financial education. With a relaxed environment built for first-timers as much as experienced users, this event offers an opportunity for people to learn about blockchain technology and connect with others in the space.
