Chainalysis Boosts Anti-Crypto Crime Efforts with South Korean Police

Blockchain security firm Chainalysis is working closely with South Korea's national police to tackle cryptocurrency-related crimes. As part of this collaboration, the two entities have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing investigative capabilities.

The agreement focuses on building institutional capacity, rather than solely addressing North Korea-linked attacks, according to Ryan Kwon, Chainalysis' country director for South Korea. This move comes as crypto thefts linked to North Korean hackers have surged in recent months, with the total losses exceeding $2 billion last year.

Under the MoU, the Korean National Police Agency will gain access to customized training content, professional certification programs, and practical training provided by Chainalysis. The partnership also leverages global visibility into illicit fund flows to aid investigators in their cases.
