Aave Deploying New Safety Feature After $50M Swap Loss

The $50.4 million loss was attributed to a combination of factors, including illiquid markets, infrastructure failures, and a sandwich attack carried out by an MEV bot.

The incident highlights the need for robust infrastructure in DeFi, which often struggles to keep pace with growing capital inflows. Aave Shield, the new safety feature, will block swaps with price impact above 25% by default, allowing users to manually override the protection if desired.
