Florida AG's Office Recovers $710K from Cryptocurrency Scammers

The Florida Attorney General's office has made another significant recovery in its fight against cryptocurrency scams. In July, they handed a check for $710,000 to a victim of a work-from-home scam.

The scam started with a 'product reviews' gig that sounded too good to be true: earn money from your couch by reviewing products remotely. The catch was that the victim had to deposit cryptocurrency assets to 'match' the value of items being reviewed.

By the time the scheme unraveled, $710,000 had vanished into the blockchain. But thanks to a collaboration between the Attorney General's Cyber Fraud Enforcement Unit and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the stolen funds were tracked down and returned to the victim through civil forfeiture proceedings.

This is not an isolated incident, in fact, it's part of a larger trend of successful crypto recoveries by the Florida AG's office. Since May, they've clawed back nearly $940,000 from scammers.
