Bitcoin Price Tumbles Amid Trump Tariff Uncertainty
The cryptocurrency market experienced a significant downturn on Monday, with Bitcoin leading the charge. The price of Bitcoin plummeted from around $67,600 to approximately $64,435 in under two hours, briefly dipping below $65,000 and triggering over $505 million in liquidations.
The majority of the damage was concentrated in Bitcoin and Ethereum, which accounted for nearly 70% of the total liquidated positions. This was largely driven by policy uncertainty surrounding President Donald Trump's tariff stance, which has been causing significant market volatility.
According to HashKey Group researcher Tim Sun, the selloff was a result of investors repricing risk assets due to shifting US tariff signals and rising geopolitical risks. He noted that institutional capital continues to view cryptocurrencies as high-risk investments, which keeps bids cautious.
