Uniswap Phishing Campaigns via Google Ads Net Attackers Over $400k
Phishing campaigns on Uniswap, promoted through Google Ads, have continued to target unsuspecting crypto users, with attackers netting over $400,000 in stolen assets. According to blockchain security analysts, the schemes involve fake websites that closely resemble legitimate exchanges, deceiving users into approving transactions that drain their wallets.
B-Block, a well-known on-chain analyst, revealed two wallet addresses tied to the operation, which together held 146 ETH worth approximately $306,000 at the time of reporting. The analyst noted that the malicious website impersonated decentralized exchange Uniswap and accumulated the stolen assets.
Stacy Muur, founder of Web3 marketing agency Green Dots, criticized Google for failing to stop such campaigns despite repeated incidents targeting crypto users. Muur shared a screenshot showing the fake sponsored result, which appeared above legitimate Uniswap links in search results.
Security groups have warned that phishing attacks are increasingly relying on Punycode domains and cloned interfaces that look nearly identical to legitimate crypto platforms. Once users connect their wallets and approve transactions, scammers gain direct access to assets without needing private keys.
