Crypto.com Achieves Major Regulatory Milestone in UAE
Crypto.com has taken a significant step forward in its regulatory journey in the United Arab Emirates, having been granted a complete Stored Value Facilities license by the Central Bank of the UAE. This milestone achievement marks Crypto.com as the first fully licensed crypto payments provider in the country.
The new license enables Crypto.com to offer cryptocurrency payment services to Dubai government institutions, including the ability to pay for certain government services using crypto assets. The partnership between Crypto.com and the Dubai Department of Finance was initially unveiled at the Dubai FinTech Summit in May 2025, with the goal of making it easier for UAE citizens to make payments for government services using digital currencies.
The license also paves the way for potential partnerships with Emirates Airlines and Dubai Duty Free. Upon completion of final formalities, Crypto.com will be able to offer cryptocurrency payment solutions to these firms, with plans to adopt digital asset payments on their booking platform by 2026, making Emirates one of the world's largest airlines to accept direct cryptocurrency payments.
