Crypto Hack Losses Plummet to $26.5 Million in February
Blockchain security firm PeckShield has released a report detailing a substantial decrease in cryptocurrency hack losses for February 2026. The figure of $26.5 million marks the lowest level since March 2025, representing a significant drop compared to previous months.
The five largest incidents accounted for over 98% of the month's losses, with YieldBlox being the most affected, losing $10 million due to an oracle manipulation attack on its lending protocol built on the Stellar blockchain. Other notable hacks include breaches at ioTube and CrossCurve, resulting in losses of $8.8 million and $3 million respectively.
Efforts are underway to recover stolen funds, with the IoTeX Foundation announcing a 100% compensation plan for users affected by the ioTube bridge hack. The foundation has also launched a claims portal to process payments in stablecoins or native Ethereum assets. Additionally, CrossCurve has offered a 10% whitehat bounty in exchange for the return of its stolen funds.
