Regent University School of Law has announced that Hester Peirce, also known as 'Crypto Mom,' will join its faculty as an associate professor. Peirce's appointment marks her departure from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where she served since 2018. The law school said she will begin teaching in November.
Peirce was a prominent advocate for clearer cryptocurrency regulation during her tenure at the SEC, which included reducing enforcement-driven oversight and supporting a more crypto-friendly approach. Her departure may leave the agency with only two commissioners: Chair Paul Atkins and Commissioner Mark Uyeda.
