Ethereum ICO-Era Investor Begins Selling Assets Amid Price Volatility
A significant Ethereum investor who participated in the network's initial coin offering (ICO) over a decade ago has begun selling their assets.
According to on-chain data, the whale transferred nearly $31 million worth of ETH from a dormant wallet into Coinbase. This move comes amidst recent price volatility in the cryptocurrency market, with Ethereum experiencing notable swings in the past week.
The investor initially acquired over 172,700 ETH at an average price of around $12.83 per token, accumulating them through Poloniex over time. Today, that holding would be valued at approximately $353 million, but the whale has chosen to sell a portion of their assets instead.
While some experts speculate that the sale may be a result of the whale's decision to liquidate entirely, others believe it could be a strategic partial exit, given that the wallet still retains over 14,800 ETH after the transaction.
