Brazil Pauses Crypto Tax Consultation Ahead of Presidential Election
Brazil has put on hold a public consultation on crypto taxation, which was meant to define the tax treatment of crypto transactions.
The decision was made by Finance Minister Dario Durigan, who cited concerns about politically divisive fiscal debates ahead of the country's October presidential election.
The consultation was intended to settle how stablecoin flows are taxed under the foreign exchange framework, following a November 2025 ruling by Banco Central do Brasil.
