Bitcoin Price Drop Tests Investor Confidence
Bitcoin's recent price drop to $67,000 has sparked concerns about investor confidence in the cryptocurrency. Despite the significant decline, which saw Bitcoin lose over 40% of its value since October 2025, the US spot Bitcoin ETF complex held up relatively well.
The arrival of spot Bitcoin ETFs in January 2024 was seen as a game-changer for the market, making it easier for institutional investors to get involved. The data shows that despite heavy selling within individual funds, the overall ETF complex continued to attract new money, with net inflows of over $167 million on March 23.
This resilience is attributed to the change in the type of holders entering the market. While traditional Bitcoiners were once characterized by their enthusiasm and willingness to hold through difficult times, the new class of investors brought in by ETFs are more likely to be institutional traders looking for a quick profit.
