Proton Takes Bitcoin, Not ETH, for Subscriptions

ZachXBT, an onchain investigator known for his work in tracing stolen funds and exposing fraud across the industry, publicly corrected Ethereum's official X account on July 4.

The correction pointed out that Proton, a privacy company offering services such as encrypted email and VPNs, only accepts Bitcoin (BTC) as a cryptocurrency payment option for its subscriptions, not Ether (ETH).

This information is supported by Proton's own support documentation, which states that users can pay for any Proton subscription with Bitcoin at checkout.

The process involves selecting Bitcoin at checkout, scanning a QR code or copying a BTC address, and waiting for network confirmations (which can take up to 24 hours).
