US Seizes Cloud Infrastructure Linked to Multibillion-Dollar Crypto Scam
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has taken a significant step in its global campaign against electronic fraud networks by seizing the cloud computing infrastructure of subsidiaries of Huione Group.
This operation, part of 'Operation Riptide', targeted the technical support services layer, which enabled the transfer of funds from cryptocurrency investment scams to traditional banking systems.
The seized account hosted the technical support ecosystem for Huione Guarantee, a section of the conglomerate specializing in custody services and digital marketplaces, which processed high-liquidity stablecoin transactions worth over $31 billion dollars in illicit transactional volume.
The approach adopted by U.S. authorities is seen as a tactical shift in government enforcement efforts, targeting the physical and network layer rather than individual smart contract addresses.
