Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX, has withdrawn his motion for a new trial after it was ordered that he disclose whether he received assistance from lawyers in filing the motion. The move comes as he awaits a decision on his appeal in the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
In a recent filing, Bankman-Fried stated that he did not believe he would receive a fair hearing on the matter from the current judge, Judge Lewis Kaplan. He had previously requested a new judge due to allegations of bias.
Bankman-Fried is currently serving a 25-year sentence for his role in misusing user funds at the crypto exchange FTX. He has also made public statements indicating plans to apply for a presidential pardon from Donald Trump, despite the former president's stated intention not to grant one.
