Ripple Secures Major European Regulatory Breakthrough with CASP License Approval

Ripple has secured a significant regulatory breakthrough in Europe after receiving preliminary approval for a Crypto Asset Service Provider license from Luxembourg's financial regulator under the EU's Markets in Crypto Assets framework.

The approval, known as a Green Light Letter, was granted by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier and is subject to final conditions. This would complement Ripple's existing European Electronic Money Institution license, allowing the company to offer regulated cryptoasset and stablecoin payment services across all 30 countries in the European Economic Area.

Ripple has already processed over $100 billion in volume across more than 60 markets globally, and its existing EMI license was secured along with a Cryptoasset Registration from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority in January 2026. The company now holds more than 75 regulatory licenses worldwide.

Cassie Craddock, Ripple's Managing Director for the UK and Europe, stated on X that 'MiCA has helped to unlock a new wave of institutional digital assets adoption.' She added that financial market infrastructure is moving on-chain, citing cross-border payments, settlement, collateral management, and tokenized assets as key growth areas.
