Renegade.fi Recovers Stolen Funds After Whitehat Hacker Exploits Vulnerability
A recent security incident involving Renegade.fi has resulted in the recovery of approximately $190,000 after a whitehat hacker exploited a vulnerability in its Arbitrum-based dark pool. The attack targeted a faulty function tied to the protocol's resolver infrastructure.
The exploit allowed the attacker to drain roughly $209,000 from Renegade's V1 Arbitrum dark pool at 8:27 am UTC on Sunday. However, within 45 minutes of being contacted by Renegade, the attacker transferred back more than 90% of the assets.
According to Arbiscan data, the returned funds included $84,370 in USDC (USDC), $27,885 in wrapped Bitcoin, and $23,950 in wrapped Ether. The incident has raised concerns about the security of DeFi infrastructure design, particularly with regards to resolver systems, proxy contracts, and admin permissions.
