Crypto.com has secured a massive investment of $400 million from Citadel Securities at a $20 billion valuation, marking its first institutional funding round. The deal brings a major traditional finance name into Crypto.com's growth plans and will support expansion across several asset classes.
The company said the new capital will speed up growth in areas such as tokenized securities and derivatives. Tokenized securities are traditional financial assets represented through blockchain-based systems, while derivatives are contracts tied to the value of another asset.
Crypto.com CEO Kris described the deal as a new growth phase after ten years of operations. He thanked the company's team, customers, community, and new partners for their support.
