Kelp DAO and Aave Restore rsETH Operations After Major Hack Incident
Kelp DAO and Aave have made significant progress in restoring the functionality of rsETH, a liquid restaking token affected by a recent hack incident. According to an official announcement, the first tranche of rsETH has been transferred from Aave into the LayerZero OFT Adapter. This marks a crucial step towards resuming bridging between the Ethereum main network and various Layer 2 networks.
The restoration of operations is expected to provide relief to users and the broader DeFi community, which was severely impacted by the cyberattack. As part of the recovery process, rsETH contracts will be unpaused within the next 24 hours, allowing withdrawals of tokens. Deposits for tokens are also anticipated to resume shortly after the announcement, along with exchange rates, which are expected to update within 48 hours.
In addition to restoring operations, Kelp DAO and Aave have taken steps to address the vulnerabilities exposed by the hack incident. The platform has changed its verification requirements, increasing them from a single-verifier setup to requiring verification from four independent attestors. This change is aimed at reducing the risk of similar attacks in the future.
