Florida Man Arrested for Stealing Crypto from 8,000 Computers via Fake Steam Games

A 21-year-old from North Lauderdale, Florida, has been arrested by the FBI for allegedly infecting over 8,000 computers with crypto-stealing malware.

The malware was hidden inside eight fake Steam games, which were later removed from the platform in early 2026. The infected games included BlockBlasters, Dashverse, Lunara, PirateFi, Chemia, Lampy, DashFPS, and Tokenova.

The scheme is believed to have started in May 2024 and continued until February 2026, with the attackers using targeted direct messages on platforms like Discord, Telegram, X, and LinkedIn to funnel high-value crypto holders towards the infected games.

The malware itself was a remote access Trojan that cost around $10,000 under the dark-web handle 'Sibel.eth', which was purchased by the accused. The stolen crypto was then converted into Bitrefill gift cards and spent on Uber Eats orders.
