Crypto Community Shaken by $24 Million Address Poisoning Attack

A major security breach has shaken the cryptocurrency community after a wallet linked to an early adopter lost $24 million worth of assets. The victim, identified as sillytuna, is also an NFT collector and claims that the theft was accompanied by physical threats.

According to blockchain security firm PeckShield, the attack likely involved an address-poisoning technique, where the attacker used a malicious wallet to intercept funds intended for the victim's account. The firm first flagged suspicious activity after noticing a large token transfer from a wallet associated with sillytuna.

The stolen assets were quickly converted into DAI and distributed across multiple intermediary wallets, with some of the funds being bridged towards the Arbitrum network. Security researchers believe that the attacker may continue to move funds in smaller portions to avoid triggering alerts.
