Russia Opens Crypto Market to Retail Investors Amid Regulatory Clarity
Russia has opened its crypto market to retail investors with certain restrictions in place. The move follows a series of regulatory steps aimed at creating a clearer framework for cryptocurrency trading within the country.
The new rules allow individuals to purchase cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, but they must do so through licensed exchanges that comply with Russian regulations. This means that individual investors will be able to buy and hold cryptocurrencies for investment purposes or as a form of payment.
The restrictions imposed on retail investors include requirements for identification verification and anti-money laundering (AML) checks. Exchanges operating in Russia must also ensure compliance with know-your-customer (KYC) regulations. These measures are intended to prevent illicit activities such as money laundering and terrorist financing.
