A recent development in the world of cryptocurrency has raised questions about the use of block space on the Bitcoin network. An anonymous user used the Ordinals protocol to inscribe the full text of the United States Constitution onto the blockchain.
The transaction, which was confirmed at block height 951,492, had a size of approximately 44.4 KB and a fee of around $83. This is not the first time that the Constitution has been inscribed on the Bitcoin blockchain, as Marathon Digital also achieved this feat in January 2025, using a single inscription to include the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and a portrait of Trump.
The use of block space for such purposes has sparked debate among users, with some arguing that it is an inefficient use of resources. However, proponents argue that it serves as a unique form of digital preservation and can be seen as an interesting example of how blockchain technology can be used to store valuable information.
