Fairborn Residents Warned About Cryptocurrency Scam Schemes
The Fairborn Police Department is issuing a warning to residents about the rising number of scams involving Bitcoin and cryptocurrency machines.
Scammers are using various means, including phone calls, text messages, emails, and social media, to contact potential victims. They claim to be representatives of law enforcement agencies, government bodies, utility companies, or banks, and demand that individuals deposit cash into a Bitcoin machine to resolve fake fines, fees, or taxes, or to secure an account and stop fraudulent activity.
The Fairborn Police Department advises residents not to share any personal or financial information with these scammers and to immediately stop any transactions if they believe they are being targeted. If you have already been contacted by a scammer, the department urges you to report it as soon as possible.
