MARISKS Warns Shipping Companies of Strait of Hormuz Scam Messages
A recent wave of scam messages has been reported to target shipping companies in the Middle East. According to Greek maritime risk management firm MARISKS, unknown actors have been posing as Iranian authorities to demand cryptocurrency payments for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
The firm emphasized that these communications are not genuine and should be ignored by shipowners. The scam messages claim that vessels would be granted clearance only after submitting documentation and paying a fee determined by supposed Iranian security services.
