Algorand, a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain network, has announced its plan to become quantum-resistant by the end of 2027. The roadmap for achieving quantum resistance involves several steps, including introducing support for native post-quantum accounts in the protocol release scheduled for Q3 2026. This will allow for network-level support for multiple concurrent signature schemes. The team also plans to implement PQC updates to its tools, such as legacy software development kits (SDKs), hardware wallets, and AlgoKit.
