Ernst & Young (EY) has launched a new tool aimed at simplifying the development of private smart contracts on public blockchains. The EY Blockchain Privacy Sandbox is a web-based environment where developers can build and test applications that protect user data.
The sandbox utilizes the open-source zero-knowledge proof compiler Starlight to convert Solidity contracts into privacy applications, allowing developers to do so without requiring a local environment. This simplification is expected to lower the threshold for enterprise experimentation with privacy technology.
According to EY's Global Blockchain Leader, the goal of this initiative is to enable enterprises to effectively validate the feasibility of privacy applications before large-scale deployment. By doing so, they aim to promote widespread adoption of innovation in this area.
