Solana Ecosystem Hit by $286 Million Drift Protocol Hack

The Solana ecosystem has been dealt a significant blow with the hacking of Drift Protocol, a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform. According to reports from Elliptic, the attack resulted in the loss of approximately $286 million in crypto assets.

The incident occurred on April 1, 2026, and is believed to be linked to actors from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. This would mark the eighteenth crypto-related operation connected to North Korea this year, with a total loss of over $300 million.

Elliptic noted that the patterns seen in the hack are similar to those used in past operations tied to the country. The attack is reported to have occurred quickly, with the hacker draining most of Drift Protocol's funds within an hour.
