Coinbase's AI Predicts World Cup Score Before Match Even Begins
Coinbase, a major US cryptocurrency exchange, has come under fire after sending out an AI-generated push notification containing false information about a FIFA World Cup match between Brazil and Norway. The error occurred on July 5, when the company's app sent a message claiming that Norway had won the match 3-2, with Erling Haaland scoring two goals.
The actual match was played several hours later and ended in a 2-1 victory for Norway. While Haaland did score two goals, the initial notification caused concern among bettors who may have placed wagers on the exact score.
Coinbase has stated that it has corrected the error and implemented measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. However, the incident highlights the challenges of relying on AI-generated content in financial transactions.
